Marcos Dantus, Ph.D., Founder and President
University Distinguished Professor at Michigan State University. Born in Mexico, received his B.A. and M.A. from Brandeis University, Magna Cum Laude, in 1985. Dr. Dantus received his Ph.D. in Chemistry (1991 Caltech) where he worked on the development of Femtochemistry (awarded the Clauser Doctoral Prize and the Herbert Newby McCoy Award), and his postdoctoral work on the development of Ultrafast Electron Diffraction under Professor Zewail (1999 Nobel Prize). He is a University Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Physics at Michigan State University. His interests include ultrafast laser pulse theory, development and control, control of nonlinear laser-matter interactions, and biomedical imaging. Dantus has more than 160 publications, 43 invention disclosures and 6 issued and 29 pending patents related to the characterization, compression and applications of ultrashort shaped laser pulses in the areas of nonlinear optics, communications, biomedical imaging, and analytical chemistry instruments. Dantus has received a number of awards including the Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar, Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow, Packard Fellowship for Science and Engineering, Beckman Young Investigator, General Electric Foundation Award, Nobel Laureate Signature Award for Graduate Education, Dantus has started three companies and is presently serving as the President and CEO of Biophotonic Solutions Inc. Dantus was the President of the OSA Ann Arbor, MI chapter in 2010 and serves on the board of advisors for Chemical Physics Letters and is in the editorial board of the Journal of Raman Spectroscopy.
Igor Pastirk, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Igor Pastirk is the Chief Technology Officer of BioPhotonic Solutions Inc. As a graduate student and then post doc
in the Dantus Research Group, Pastirk implemented the MIIPS® method for the characterization and correction of phase distortions in femtosecond laser systems. He was the principal investigator in STTR Phase I and II projects. Pastirk is also an expert on technology transfer. Leads a team of experts in further development and production of MIIPS®-based ultrafast pulse technologies. Member of the OSA. Over 15 years of experience with utlrafast lasers and pulse shaping.
