MIIPS-HD is the first line of pulse shapers on the market that relies on a Hamamatsu's 2D (792×600 pixels) liquid crystal on silicon-spatial light modulator (LCOS-SLM), and uses diffractive shaping to enable independent phase and amplitude control, without using a polarizer. The system features enhanced power (pulse energy) handling capabilities and offers superior throughput for selected spectral ranges by utilizing SLMs with dielectric back mirrors. It is ideal for direct amplified pulse compression and shaping.

The pulse shaper's passband is normally optimized to fit the bottom-to-bottom spectral range of the user's laser source, subject to constrains imposed by the SLM ranges listed above.
Example: For a laser spectrum that fits within 700-800nm, an SLM with -07 coating is to be used but the shaper's passband is to be about 100nm, centered at 750nm.
-	 Dielectric mirror upgrade for 750-850nm (with an -02 SLM) and 1000-1100nm (with an -03 SLM) spectral ranges.
-	 Transmission grating (instead of a reflective grating) for the 750-850nm range; requires vertically polarized light at the input.
